The Brooklyn Nets took a commanding 2-0 lead against the Milwaukee Bucks in their second-round playoff series on Monday night.

On Tuesday morning, former NBA pro Jay Williams said that Kevin Durant had told him a couple of years ago to never compare Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to him.

“A couple of years ago, we’re at a holiday party for K.D.’s business,” said Williams. “We’re all there, everybody is hanging out, and I went on TV on ‘Get Up’ that day and said, ‘Giannis was destroying people in the league,’ and I said, ‘When I think about Giannis, it’s like A.D. (Anthony Davis) and Kevin Durant had a baby to a degree: size, length.’ I’m not saying skillset, I’m saying the way he played.

“Kevin Durant comes up to me at the club and says, ‘Yo, don’t you ever compare me to Giannis again. Don’t you ever do that.'”

As the quote began to gain traction on social media, Durant responded to Williams, saying that the story was a lie and that Williams could never speak for him.

Beyond his response on Instagram, Durant also appeared to tweet about the story.

It will be interesting to see how Williams responds to Durant. It will also be entertaining to see whether or not Antetokounmpo winds up chiming in on the situation as well.

As for the playoff series between the two stars, the series will move Milwaukee for Game 3 and Game 4 as the Bucks look to get themselves back into the series.
