The Brooklyn Nets are currently in a 1-0 hole in their first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics, but it sounds like they may have a key reinforcement on the way.
According to a report, Game 4 of the series is now a “realistic target” for three-time All-Star Ben Simmons to make his Nets debut. Perhaps more surprisingly, the idea of him playing in Game 3 hasn’t been ruled out.
If Simmons does indeed return for Brooklyn during its series against Boston, it’ll be fascinating to see what sort of impact he makes.
The 25-year-old is a triple-double threat and elite defender, but he figures to find himself in a slightly different role with the Nets compared to the way he was used with the Philadelphia 76ers. He might need some time to adjust.
Simmons has career averages of 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
