The Brooklyn Nets could be without star forward Kevin Durant for multiple games after he was pulled from Friday night’s contest because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
Due to the contact tracing required by those protocols, Durant didn’t travel with the Nets for their Saturday night road clash against the Philadelphia 76ers and could miss additional contests.
Durant was removed from the Nets game after playing just 19 minutes and was clearly frustrated after that action was taken.
Last month, Durant missed three games after being exposed to someone who had tested positive for COVID-19 and also contracted the highly contagious virus last year.
After missing all of last season because of an Achilles injury, Durant has returned to the form that’s made him one of the NBA’s top players. In his 18 games this season, Durant is averaging 29.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.
The Nets currently have a 14-10 record, third-best in the Eastern Conference and are making a strong effort to capture an NBA title after acquiring James Harden last month.
