According to a report, seven-time NBA All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge has been cleared to return to the league.
Aldridge walked away from the NBA during the 2020-21 season due to medical issues. The concerns stemmed from an irregular heartbeat. Fortunately, it sounds like he’s in good enough health today to be able to return to the league.
It also sounds like Aldridge’s last team is the favorite to swoop in and sign him. He would be the latest addition to a Brooklyn Nets squad that has no shortage of talent.
Aldridge has career averages of 19.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He’s a career 49.1 percent shooter from the field.
The 36-year-old is a versatile frontcourt piece. There’s a chance he could be slightly rusty after being away from the game for a little while, but at the very least, his 6-foot-11 frame should allow him to make an impact on the glass.
It will be interesting to monitor whether any other teams try to challenge the Nets for Aldridge’s services.
