Report: Mike D’Antoni finalizing a deal to join Steve Nash’s coaching staff

Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash sent shockwaves throughout the NBA recently by accepting the job to become the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and now he’s made another move to bolster his coaching staff.

Along with adding former teammate Amar’e Stoudemire to his staff, Nash has also brought in Mike D’Antoni to be his right-hand man in Brooklyn.

D’Antoni and the Houston Rockets recently agreed to mutually part ways after losing to the eventual NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the playoffs. D’Antoni was linked to a few head coaching jobs around the league, but nothing materialized.

With Nash having no experience as a head coach in the NBA, the addition of D’Antoni, who helped the Phoenix Suns become an offensive powerhouse with Nash as his floor general, is a step in the right direction.

The Nets will be a team to watch in the Eastern Conference next season with the duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving expected to make this team a potential title contender.

The star duo on the floor and coaching from the sideline will likely make headlines on a daily basis in Brooklyn, whether it turns out to be a success or a disaster.
