One of the bigger stories of the 2021-22 NBA season has been the drama surrounding Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.
As many know, Irving has refused to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. That has led him to miss all of the Nets’ home games this season.
Though Irving watched a recent Nets home game against the New York Knicks from the stands, he was allowed to enter the team’s locker room during the contest. Brooklyn was later fined $50,000 for the matter.
Texas senator Ted Cruz recently spoke about the situation and invited Irving to join the Houston Rockets.
Cruz is known for being an outspoken and polarizing senator. Over the past year, he has voiced his opinion about many matters involving NBA players.
It appears that this situation is no different. Cruz has often been critical of the NBA and its social and political stances.
In any event, it is not likely that Irving will be traded to the Rockets, who currently have the worst record in the NBA, anytime soon. He seems determined to win an NBA title with the Nets despite the fact that he has missed a massive amount of games this season due to his vaccination status.
With the postseason quickly approaching, it will be interesting to see if Irving ends up being allowed to play in the Nets’ home games.
Brooklyn has been on a roll lately, winning three straight games. The team currently sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and seems destined to participate in the league’s play-in tournament.
