Tristan Thompson suggests buying crypto with ‘new American wave’ possibly coming when Donald Trump takes office

Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson seems to be quite acclimated when it comes to the world of cryptocurrency.

He has made a number of social media posts related the topic in the past. For example, when Bitcoin ripped past $85,000 in value back in November, he took to X to express his excitement.

Now, he appears to be gearing up for what he believes could be a big shift starting Monday, which is when Donald Trump’s second presidential term will begin. He made a series of posts on X on Sunday in which he provided some tips on getting into crypto. In one post, he suggested buying crypto “now” in preparation for “the new American wave.”

In some of his other posts, Thompson urged people to be responsible with crypto, suggesting that folks invest in legit projects, do research and learn as much as possible.

Trump will be inaugurated on Monday. Joe Biden is nearing the end of his term in the White House. The 20th Amendment specifies that a president’s four-year term comes to a close when the clock strikes noon on Jan. 20.

Biden and Trump have long been political enemies, and they even faced off in the 2020 presidential election, with the former being the Democratic nominee and the latter representing the Republicans. Still, Biden has said that he will “of course” attend Trump’s inauguration on Monday even though Trump didn’t attend his back in the year 2021.

Thompson has scarcely seen the floor so far this season for a Cavaliers squad that’s on pace to finish with a whopping 70 wins. He’s played in only 17 of the team’s 41 games to this point and is averaging 2.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per contest.

However, he did play in one of the Cavaliers’ more recent contests. Thompson received 12 minutes of action in the team’s 20-point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this week. He totaled four points, seven rebounds and two assists in that contest against the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference right now.

Thompson is hoping that he can win his second title as a member of the Cavaliers this season. He was a member of Cleveland when the team captured its first championship in franchise history in 2016.
