Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis seen cracking jokes after prison sentence: ‘That’s the only way you can stop me from eating hamburgers’

Former NBA big man Glen Davis hilariously reacted on social media after getting handed a prison sentence on Thursday.

More specifically, Davis was sentenced to 40 months in prison for defrauding the NBA’s insurance plan. He was one of over 20 people convicted in the case. After he serves his time in prison, Davis also will be under supervised release for three years.

Davis was found guilty of several crimes — including wire fraud, health care fraud, conspiracy to make false statements, conspiracy to commit health care fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud — back in November of last year.

Former NBA players Will Bynum and Terrence Williams were also among those given sentences for their roles in the case.

Davis played for three NBA teams — the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers — across eight seasons in the league. He was fortunate to start his pro career with a great team in the 2007-08 Celtics.

The 6-foot-9 big averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per outing in 69 regular-season games played as a rookie, and while he wasn’t a major contributor for the Celtics in the 2008 NBA Playoffs, he went on to win a ring in his first NBA season.

But Davis got his chance to be a major playoff contributor for Boston in 2010, when the team reached the NBA Finals. He appeared in 24 playoff games for the Celtics and averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest on 47.6 percent shooting from the field.

The Celtics arguably wouldn’t have won Game 4 of the 2010 NBA Finals if it weren’t for his performance off the bench.

In under 23 minutes of playing time, he finished with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals while converting seven of his 10 shots from the floor, and Boston won the game by seven points to tie the series up at two games apiece. But it’s worth noting that the Celtics still lost the championship series to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.
