Former Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas took a shot at the Celtics organization on Twitter.
Thomas, who made two All-Star Games during his time with the Celtics, commented on the team having center Robert Williams play through an injury. Williams tore his meniscus earlier this season, but Boston doesn’t believe that he can make the injury worse.
Thomas, who dealt with a hip injury in the 2016-17 season, played through the injury in the playoffs that season. Thomas has never been the same player since the injury, and he seems to believe that part of that is because of the Celtics having him play through it.
Boston traded Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a deal for Kyrie Irving following the 2016-17 season. Since then, Thomas has bounced around the league and hasn’t been able to get back to his previous level of play.
Thomas has played for the Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets since being traded by the Celtics.
With the Hornets in the 2021-22 season, Thomas appeared in 17 games and averaged 8.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 12.9 minutes per game.
The Celtics are trailing the Golden State Warriors 3-2 in the 2022 NBA Finals, and they’re certainly hoping Williams will help keep them alive in the series in Game 6.
Williams has appeared in 16 playoff games this year. Hopefully, he will avoid any further injury from playing in the 2022 postseason and be able to get fully healthy in the offseason.
