Opposing GMs are ‘ticked off’ at Danny Ainge for trying to trade an injured Kemba Walker

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has reportedly taken some heat from some of his peers for trying to trade an injured Kemba Walker earlier this season.

“A lot of GMs are ticked off at Danny, because Danny tried like hell to move Kemba at the beginning of the year knowing that his knee wasn’t right,” Ric Bucher said on Colin Cowherd’s podcast. “He was trying to get rid of damaged goods.”

The Celtics made the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals last season.

However, they’ve struggled to look elite this year. They hold a subpar 15-15 record.

As a matter of fact, Ainge recently said the Celtics weren’t good enough to win a championship this season.

Of course, the Celtics have faced numerous issues this season. The NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols have forced several players to miss games and the team to reschedule contests.

Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum, who contracted the dangerous virus earlier this season, said he’s still dealing with the ramifications of the sickness.

Walker, 30, has only appeared in 15 games this season. The guard is putting up 17.0 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest this season.
