Report: Celtics star Kemba Walker available to make season debut Sunday vs. Knicks

A new report indicates that Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker will be available to make his season debut when the Celtics take the court on Sunday afternoon against the New York Knicks.

Walker had been unavailable because of continuing trouble with his left knee, which led to a stem-cell injection in October.

That treatment was subsequently followed by a 12-week program that was meant to strengthen Walker’s knee, making him unavailable for action until now.

Exactly how many minutes Walker will play is uncertain, but it seems likely that Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will ease him into the lineup to avoid any recurrence of the problem.

The 30-year-old Walker will be starting his second season with the Celtics after being part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Charlotte Hornets in 2019.

In Walker’s first season with the Celtics, he averaged 20.4 points, 4.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.
