Footage of former Boston Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo getting pulled over by police after he was driving 100 miles per hour in his Tesla has been released by TMZ and is making the rounds on social media.

Rondo’s son was in the car with him when he was allegedly speeding, and the incident occurred in January in Indiana’s Jackson County.

Police ended up searching Rondo’s car after they claimed to smell marijuana, and after finding marijuana as well as a gun, he was initially charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm. But Rondo pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of unlawful carry of a handgun, and as a result, the other two charges were dropped.

Rondo was sentenced to 180 days in jail, though his sentence was suspended. Hence, if he can stay out of trouble, he will serve his time on probation instead.

The 38-year-old last played in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021-22 regular season, and he won two titles during his pro career: one with the Celtics in 2008 and another with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

His NBA tenure spanned 16 years in total, and he played for nine teams in total, nearly 33 percent of the 30 teams in the league.

But Rondo was at his best as an NBA player early on in his career when he played for the Celtics. He was consistently one of the elite passers in the league during his nine seasons in Boston, as he led the NBA in assists twice as a Celtic and dished out 8.5 assists per game in 527 regular-season games playing for the storied franchise.

His top season with the Celtics from a passing perspective came when he averaged a league-high 11.7 assists per contest across 53 games played during the 2011-12 regular season.

Hopefully, fans won’t hear of Rondo getting into any more run-ins with police in the foreseeable future so that he can serve his sentence on probation and not have to go to jail.
