Charlotte Hornets guard Collin Sexton is drawing trade interest from several NBA teams, sources told Ahn Fire Digital.

The Hornets, who are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings, have made it known that Sexton is available in trade talks, sources said.

Sexton is making $18.9 million this season in the final year of his contract. The Hornets would like to get something in return for the Alabama product to avoid losing him for nothing in the offseason in unrestricted free agency, sources said.

The 26-year-old Sexton is averaging 15.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game for the Hornets this season while shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line. He recently returned from a strained left quadriceps.

“I would say it’s tough, it’s definitely tough,” Sexton said about returning from his injury. “But I have to be patient, have to be patient with my body and make sure my mind is connected to my body. I feel like the mind is something that most people don’t think about. Everybody is worried about the body, but your mind has to be connected so that you can go out there and perform the way you want to and not think and not overthink about it.

“And I feel like just getting back in the rhythm of things. I want to just continue to be patient and know that it does take a while. And I was out for three weeks, three and a half weeks. And you’re not going to just get everything back in one day.”

Sexton has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz and Hornets. The rugged defender is aware that Charlotte could trade him, sources said.

The eighth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Sexton holds career averages of 18.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He’s never been to the playoffs, but several contenders are interested in trading for him, sources said, so that could change soon.
