Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen had a message for his haters in an interview with GQ Sports.

Pippen, a six-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer, compared himself to his former teammate Michael Jordan.

“I just want to let people know and set the record straight that I was as great a player as Michael Jordan,” Pippen said. “Only one player can take home the MVP, and that’s that.”

Jordan is arguably the greatest player of all time, but Pippen believes that he deserves his respect for the many years that the two played together with the Bulls. The duo won six titles together, but there seems to be a little bit of animosity from Pippen towards Jordan.

Pippen made seven All-Star teams in his illustrious NBA career as well as 10 NBA All-Defensive teams. There’s no question that he’s one of the greatest players in NBA history, but Jordan’s accolades certainly exceed Pippen’s.

Jordan, a 14-time All-Star, won five MVP awards in his career and 10 NBA scoring titles. He is arguably the greatest scorer in the history of the game, and he was awarded NBA Finals MVP in all six of the Bulls’ championship runs.

Jordan and Pippen were an iconic duo, so it is hard to see that Pippen feels that he received the short end of the stick between the two.

As great as Jordan was, he still never won a title without Pippen on his team. Despite that, there’s no debate that Jordan has the better resume as a basketball player.

The Bulls have yet to find the same success that they did during Jordan and Pippen’s run, but this year’s team is off to a hot start. The Bulls are 7-3 this season and tied with the Miami Heat for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
