Report: Luka Doncic’s home was burglarized on Friday

Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic has become the latest in a long list of high-profile athletes as a victim of a burglary in recent months.

Doncic’s business manager, Lara Beth Seager, confirmed to ESPN that the Slovenian’s home in Dallas was burglarized on Friday night.

“No one was home at the time, and thankfully Luka and his family are safe,” Seager said. “Luka has filed a police report, and an investigation is ongoing.”

Per an internal police report obtained by the Dallas Morning News, approximately $30,000 in jewelry was stolen from Doncic’s residence.

Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis is another NBA player who’s seen his home get broken into lately. That happened in early November, and he offered a $40,000 reward to anyone who could provide information.

Doncic is currently dealing with an on-court issue at the moment as well, considering he suffered a calf injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day. He will reportedly be sidelined for at least one month with that injury.

However, the Mavericks looked pretty solid without Doncic on the floor when they played the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. Dallas won the contest by nine points and scored the ball by committee, as five players on the team dropped 10-plus points.

Guard Kyrie Irving led all scorers for the Mavericks with 20 points and five made 3-pointers. He also dished out five assists and pulled down four rebounds in an all-around showing for Dallas.

Dallas should have enough firepower on both ends of the floor to come out on top in their upcoming game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night. At 10-20, only two teams in the Western Conference own worse records than Portland’s.

But the Mavericks will likely feel Doncic’s absence more when they take on the better teams in the league. For example, Dallas has a bout against the Cleveland Cavaliers coming up on Jan. 3, and Cleveland holds the NBA’s top record at the moment at 27-4.

With any luck, the recent trend of burglarizing big-name athletes will soon die down and local police will be able to identify the individual or individuals who robbed his home on Friday.
