The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly interested in signing point guard Spencer Dinwiddie this offseason.
“The Daily News learned the Mavericks made their interest in Dinwiddie known and are a candidate to sign him in free agency,” wrote Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News.
Dinwiddie is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after spending the past five seasons with the Brooklyn Nets.
The 28-year-old revealed recently that there is a “high likelihood” that he would return to the Nets if the team were to offer him a five-year, $125 million contract. However, it is unclear how likely that kind of offer will come from the team.
Dinwiddie missed nearly all of the 2020-21 season due to injury, only appearing in three regular season games for the Nets. He had the best season of his career in the previous season.
With Dinwiddie playing point guard for nearly all of his professional career, it would certainly be interesting to see how the Mavericks would be able to fit him next to the Mavericks’ current ball-dominant superstar Luka Doncic.
