The NBA trade deadline is approaching, and it seems like Jerami Grant is a name to keep an eye on.

Based on reports, it seems like the Detroit Pistons star could find himself playing for a contending team before the 2021-22 season ends.

But a possible trade isn’t the only thing that’s likely on Grant’s mind. According to a report, he is also looking to sign a very lucrative extension in the offseason.

“Sources say Grant expects to sign a lucrative extension in the ballpark of four years, $112 million this offseason,” wrote Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

“For any team to sign off on a trade for Grant, they’ll need assurances of his plans to re-sign this offseason, just like [Aaron] Gordon did in Denver. Grant also has little interest in joining a new situation where he doesn’t feature as a primary offensive option, sources said.”

Grant is currently playing in his eighth season at the NBA level, and he’s already played for four teams. It seems like that number could get bigger in the near future.

This season, the 27-year-old is averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. He’s shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Grant’s stock has received a huge boost during his time with the Pistons. Over the first six seasons of his career, he averaged just 9.3 points per game. However, as a member of the Pistons, he’s averaging 21.6 points per game.

Time will tell what the future holds for the former second-round pick. It seems like he could bring a lot to the table for a contending team.
