With no offers currently on the table, former Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters is considering retiring from basketball at the age of 29.
Waiters last played with Los Angeles Lakers’ championship team just two months ago, though he offered minimal contributions during his brief time with the team.
Prior to that, he saw action with three other teams, beginning as the fourth overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012.
He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in January 2015 before then signing with the Miami Heat as a free agent in 2016.
During the latter part of that first season, Waiters suffered an injury that would continue to nag him and ultimately turn into season-ending surgery the following year.
Since returning to the court, Waiters has struggled to regain his past level of performance and has also been plagued by off-the-court troubles.
The Heat ultimately traded him this past February as part of a big deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, but they quickly released him and the Lakers signed him the following month.
