Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is no stranger to comparisons with the greatest players of all time.
With four NBA titles and two NBA MVP awards to his name, Curry is in very rarefied air.
Fellow great Charles Barkley recently spoke on Curry’s greatness and put him in the top two when it comes to greatest point guards of all time.
The other guard atop Barkley’s list is Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas.
“I said after he won this one, that puts him on the list with Isiah Thomas,” Barkley recently told NBC Sports Bay Area. “He’s at the table in the Hall of Fame with Isiah Thomas as probably the best point guards. Those two guys are probably the two best points to ever play the game.”
It’s an incredibly high compliment from Barkley. However, it’s not a shock that Curry is rated that highly.
Not only is he one of the most successful players in his generation when it comes to winning on the biggest stage, but he’s also played a major role in changing the way NBA basketball is played. His ability to hit 3-pointers from all over the floor has changed game plans, playing styles and more.
In fact, it’s quite likely that his impact on the game will be felt long after he ends up calling it a career.
At 34 years old, Curry likely has a few more years to play at the top of his game. While it is never easy to predict when a player’s prime years will end, Curry hasn’t shown signs of slowing down just yet.
Last season, he averaged 25.5 points, 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game. He also won his first Finals MVP award.
Surely, he’s looking forward to trying to defend that title in the upcoming campaign.
