In a new podcast episode, NBA veteran Danny Green expressed astonishment that Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is despised by some people.
During an episode of the Inside the Green Room with Danny Green podcast, Green and cohost Harrison Sanford discussed the criticism being directed at Green’s Philadelphia 76ers teammate James Harden, with Green comparing it to critics of Curry.

“I’ve learned being in this league that they don’t appreciate a lot of guys until they’re gone,” Green said. “And he’s (Harden) one of those guys, just like with LeBron [James], and s—, even Steph has haters, which is crazy. He’s one of the nicest, most religious, winning guys. There’s nothing wrong with him, but everybody in the league has people who hate ’em. It’s usually fans of other fan bases, other teams, but there’s always gonna be people who criticize and find weaknesses.”
Green is in his second season with the 76ers and has been in the NBA since the 2009-10 season. That long span of time in the league has given him plenty of experience when it comes to fans and critics offering their opinions on players.
Green began his career as a teammate of James on the Cleveland Cavaliers. He later played with him again on the Los Angeles Lakers. While Green and Curry have never been teammates in the NBA, it’s clear how much respect he has for the Warriors guard.
Any criticism of Curry is likely a result of either jealousy or frustration, considering how successful he’s become since entering the NBA.
Over the course of Curry’s NBA career, the sharpshooter has blossomed into a dominating presence who can connect from far beyond the 3-point line when needed.
Curry has career averages of 24.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. In addition, he’s connected on 3,117 3-pointers at a success rate of 42.8 percent.
Numbers like those have helped Curry lead the Warriors to three NBA titles so far. This season, the Warriors are again solid contenders in the Western Conference playoffs.
While Curry undoubtedly hears criticism directed at him, it doesn’t appear to be affecting his on-court production at all.
