Donald Trump Jr. invokes CP3 to take shot at Nikki Haley after she wins DC primary

Donald Trump Jr. used Chris Paul to take a jab one of his father’s political opponents in Nikki Haley on X.

Trump Jr. is the eldest son of former president Donald Trump, who is battling Haley in the Republican primaries. Haley recently scored her first victory of the primaries in Washington, D.C., but she is still far behind the elder Trump in the race.

Plenty of people know the context behind the meme the younger Trump used. Paul and the Phoenix Suns were getting blown out by the Dallas Mavericks at home in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals when the star guard hit a 3-pointer to cut Dallas’ lead to 42 points.

Paul and the Golden State Warriors were on the receiving end of one of the bigger blowouts of the 2023-24 regular season on Sunday. The Boston Celtics dominated Golden State on both ends at TD Garden and won by a score of 140-88.

Stephen Curry had arguably his worst performance of the season in the Warriors’ 52-point loss. Granted, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr waved the white flag in the second half, so Curry didn’t receive a whole lot of playing time against Boston, but he ended up with just four points and missed every one of his nine attempts from deep.

The game was out of hand early, as Boston led by 22 points after the end of the first quarter. Interestingly, Draymond Green tried a strategy of leaving Jaylen Brown open behind the 3-point line to start the game, and Brown made the Warriors pay for that strategy. He erupted for 19 points in the opening frame, with 15 of those points coming from deep.

Brown ended up leading the Celtics in scoring with 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point range.

Jayson Tatum was right behind Brown in the scoring column, as he dropped 27 points, with 20 of them coming in the second quarter.

The Celtics’ win over the Warriors marked the team’s 11th victory in a row, which is the longest winning streak of any team this season.  At 48-12, the Celtics are eight-and-a-half games ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference standings. The Bucks sit as the No. 2 seed in the conference.

Boston hasn’t picked up a loss since it fell to the Los Angeles Lakers at home back on Feb. 1, which was over a month ago.

The Celtics will kick off a five-game road trip when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
