Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green had an interesting take on injury to Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker.
Green believes that Booker’s hamstring injury puts the New Orleans Pelicans in a good place to succeed in their first-round series with Phoenix.
The Warriors forward thinks the Pelicans have the two best players on the court, even though the Suns have All-Star guard Chris Paul.
That’s a bold statement from Green, but Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum did have extremely solid games in the Pelicans’ Game 2 win.
Ingram scored 37 points on 13-of-21 shooting and also added 11 rebounds and nine assists in the win. McCollum was also solid, as he hit six 3-pointers on his way to 23 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
Paul is still one of the best players in the league, and he helped lead the Suns to the NBA Finals last season, but Green is higher on the Ingram-McCollum duo.
Booker is Phoenix’s leading scorer this season, and he was having a fantastic series, scoring 31 points in Game 2 before going down with the hamstring injury.
The Suns and Pelicans are tied at one game apiece with the series shifting back to New Orleans in Game 3 on Friday night.
Green and the Warriors are sitting pretty in their first-round series, as they are up 3-0 on the Denver Nuggets. However, the Warriors could face one of the Suns or Pelicans in the Western Conference Finals if the teams make it there.
Warriors fans certainly hope that Green’s comments, even though they weren’t meant to be disrespectful to Paul, don’t come back to bite him later on in this postseason.
