Former NBA star Jermey Lin has been extremely vocal about the spike in Asian hate crimes.

As a matter of fact, the Santa Cruz Warriors guard insinuated a disturbing admission in a rant on Instagram.

“Being an Asian American doesn’t mean we don’t experience poverty and racism,” Lin wrote. “Being a 9 year NBA veteran doesn’t protect me from being called ‘coronavirus’ on the court.”

Lin, 32, rose to fame during an illustrious stint with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 season.

Most notably, Lin put up 38 points on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2012. His ascension to stardom made him one of the most prominent asian NBA players in league history.

However, the guard never found a permanent home in the league. The journeyman bounced around the league for several years. He served as a reserve on the on the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 championship team.

Now, Lin is in the G League with the Golden State Warriors’ affiliate club in a bubble in Orlando, Fla. He’s putting up 19.6 points, 7.2 assists and 1.6 steals per contest this season in the G League.

Over the course of his NBA career, Lin has averages of 11.6 points, 4.3 assists and 2.8 boards per game.
