Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce offer very different opinions on whether Stephen Curry is a top 10 player of all time

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry won his fourth NBA title with the team during the 2021-22 season, as Golden State defeated the Boston Celtics in six games in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Curry, who was named NBA Finals MVP, was dominant in the series against Boston, averaging 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from 3.

A two-time regular season MVP and four-time champion, Curry certainly has an argument to be considered one of the best players in NBA history.

Former NBA stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have very different opinions on where Curry should land all time.

Matt Barnes asked if Curry is a top 10 player of all time, and Pierce said that he does not have Curry in his top 10 right now. Garnett told Pierce he was “tripping” for his take.

“The man changed the game and where you shoot the ball from,” Garnett said. “That’s first. Secondly, he does it on a consistent basis. Every guard that’s under f—— six foot think they Steph Curry and shoot the ball.”

Pierce gave his counter as to why he believes Curry hasn’t quite reached that top 10 level yet.

“I still respect the older guys and that era like the [Bill] Russell and the Wilt [Chamberlain],” Pierce said. “That’s a lot of disrespect to them.”

Garnett said he has both Russell and Chamberlain in his personal top 10, but he went back to reiterating that Curry changed the game of basketball with his insane shooting range. Even Pierce had to agree with the point that Curry has changed basketball.

It’s possible that Pierce changes his tune if Curry wins another title. There is a knock against the Warriors guard that he only has one NBA Finals MVP award to his name.

Still, Curry is the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made, and he’s widely considered to be the greatest shooter in NBA history. To be such an elite shooter as well as a two-time MVP shows just how unique Curry’s skill set is.

The Warriors star will have a chance to continue to add to his resume and convince Pierce that he is a top 10 player of all time when the Warriors kick off their 2022-23 season on Oct. 18 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
