Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley faced off against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors in the playoffs on two occasions throughout his pro career.
First, he played for the Houston Rockets when they crossed paths with Golden State in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, and the Warriors won that series in a gentleman’s sweep.
Fast forward several years, and Beverley faced off against the Warriors in the first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs, this time as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. The final outcome was similar to Beverley’s time with the Rockets, as Golden State bested his Clippers in six games.
Years removed from his playoff battles with Curry, Beverley has declared that the Warriors star is the greatest point guard of all time.

Curry boasts quite an impressive resume. He’s a four-time NBA champion, 11-time All-Star, two-time scoring champion and has a pair of MVPs to his name as well.
Plus, Curry still has time to add to his resume. While Beverley hasn’t played in the NBA in the 2024-25 season, Curry’s pro tenure is still going strong, as he remains one of the league’s premier players despite turning 37 years old last month.
He’s leading the league in 3-pointers made and attempted per contest and is also shooting a league-best 93 percent from the charity stripe this season. Curry is no stranger to shooting the ball with great efficiency from the free-throw line, as he’s a career 91.1 percent free-throw shooter.
Curry will try to win his fifth NBA title later on in the year, as the Warriors are fighting for home-court advantage in the opening round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs with just a few games left on their regular-season schedule. Golden State is less than one game back of the Denver Nuggets for the No. 4 seed in the West.
Beverley deserves props for praising Curry after the Warriors knocked him out of the playoffs on more than one occasion. It should be exciting to find out it Curry can win as many championships as former Los Angeles Lakers star point guard Magic Johnson, who won five NBA titles in his career.
