Darren Collison has not played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season, but the veteran guard is reportedly showing flashes of his former self in workouts.
“Collison would be a bigger swing but a blinder bet. He hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since 2019 and is 34, seven years older than [Ryan] Arcidiacono,” Anthony Slater of The Athletic wrote when discussing the Golden State Warriors’ options to fill their final roster spot. “Those in the gym when Collison visited said he looked solid — in basketball playing shape and showing flashes of his former self in a pickup setting.”
Collison first entered the league in 2009 and served as a solid player throughout the following decade.
He has started for a large portion of his time in the NBA and has averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
With the NBA’s offseason winding down, it will be interesting to see if the veteran guard will get another shot at the NBA. If he truly is back to his former self, chances are good he’ll get an opportunity at some point.
