The Golden State Warriors are in a position that they haven’t been in for years, as they’ll select a rookie prospect with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
While this year’s draft class is considered to be quite weak, the Warriors are reportedly really excited about one player who could easily be available for them to take with the second pick.
The player they’re enthusiastic about is James Wiseman, the physical specimen who could thrive in Golden State’s system.
“He was No. 2 in our recent mock draft, with sources telling Bleacher Report the Golden State Warriors remain high on the 7-foot-1, 240-pound center,” Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report wrote.
Wiseman is a monster who could develop into a special player despite currently being quite raw.
Luckily, the Warriors would have no need for him to produce right away as they expect to once again be led by their star trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game at the University of Memphis. However, he played just three games before he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA.
Only time will tell if he ends up as the Warriors’ latest draft steal.
