Golden State Warriors newcomer Kelly Oubre Jr. is still trying to get adjusted to his new surrounding after being traded to the team in the wake of the devastating Klay Thompson injury before the 2020-21 campaign began.

Not only is Oubre trying to find his place on a team headlined by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, but he’s also dealing with an old girlfriend that tried to extort millions of dollars from him.

“G.S. Warrior star Kelly Oubre claims his ex-GF tried to extort him out of nearly $3 million … and if he didn’t pay up, she’d launch a smear campaign intended to destroy his reputation,” reported TMZ.

Oubre is one of many professional athletes that has had to deal with off-the-court issues like this with old relationships that go horribly wrong.

Unfortunately for Oubre, this isn’t the first time he’s had to deal with his old girlfriend trying to make his life difficult. TMZ claims the Warriors star filed a lawsuit back in 2019 when she stole his two dogs.

“Oubre first filed suit against [Makena] LeDuff back in 2019 …. saying she became an absolute nightmare after they broke up. He claims she stole his 2 dogs, Soul and Saint, slashed his tires and refused to leave the house he was renting in Beverly Hills.”

In addition, Oubre claims that LeDuff threatened to hurt him with a with a warning back in August 2019.

As for Oubre’s life on the court, it has been a difficult adjustment period for the 25-year-old in San Francisco as he’s shooting a career-worst 35.0 percent from the floor and a putrid 19.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Only time will tell how things will pan out for Oubre, but it seems clear his off-the-court issues might be impacting his game on the court.
