Report: People around NBA wondering if Draymond Green’s actions are sign Warriors know their dominance is over

People around the NBA are wondering if Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green’s recent actions are a sign that the Warriors know that their dominance in the NBA is over, according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe.

Green, a four-time NBA champion, has been ejected from multiple games over the last week for Golden State, a troubling sign for the team moving forward.

“You talk to people around the league today about Draymond’s last week in the NBA, and you hear a lot of, ‘I wonder if they know deep down that their moment is passing them by, and this is how it’s manifesting, this raging against the dying of the light,'” Lowe said. “But, it’s a long season. We’ll see. But that’s – you do hear people saying that.”

Green was most recently ejected from the team’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

He put Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock after Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels got into a scuffle. Thompson, McDaniels and Green were all ejected from the game. Green received a flagrant foul for his actions.

The Warriors veteran is known for playing the game with a lot of emotion, but it seems to have gotten the best of him lately.

On Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Green was ejected after getting into a scuffle with Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell. It was the second technical foul that Green received in the game, leading to his ejection.

He then followed that up with another troubling sequence on Sunday night against the Timberwolves. Green fouled Wolves star Anthony Edwards, and the two ended up jawing back and forth.

Green seemed to go after Edwards, almost as if he wanted to start an altercation.

“The f— are you going to to about it then?” Green said to Edwards. “What you gonna do about it?”

While that didn’t lead to an ejection, it’s possible that the emotions from that incident led to things boiling over in Tuesday’s Warriors-Timberwolves matchup.

Green has been involved in several altercations dating back to last season. The most notable may be his punch of then-teammate Jordan Poole in a practice prior to the regular season.

Poole is now a member of the Washington Wizards after Golden State traded him this past offseason. Despite winning a title in the 2021-22 season, there was clearly some bad blood between Green and Poole.

In the playoffs last season, Green was ejected for stomping on Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis in Game 2 of the first round.

While Green certainly is trying to assert himself as a player that other teams shouldn’t want to mess with, he’s also hurting his own team by getting ejected from games.

It will be interesting to see if the Warriors attempt to do anything to curtail Green’s actions going forward.
