Ronnie 2K fires back at Klay Thompson for complaining heavily about his 3-point rating

Ever since the player ratings for NBA 2K23 came out, a number of NBA players have taken to social media to complain about their personal ratings.

Unsurprisingly, many NBA stars feel that their ratings are too low and want NBA 2K digital marketing director Ronnie Singh, commonly known as Ronnie 2K, to know about it.

In a recent exclusive interview with Inside the Warriors, Singh lashed out at Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson for his recent complaints.

“I think it’s a badge of honor for those guys. Something they definitely talk about in the locker room,” Singh said when asked about Thompson complaining about his 3-point rating. “Even though Klay said that he hadn’t played NBA2K since the Dreamcast, the fact that he cares about his rating so much, I know that that’s not true. I can see his gamer tag, he plays it just plenty. But I also think him in specific, he was really upset about an 88 three-point rating. But you know what the funny thing is? That was still tied for the second-highest rating. I think that’s part of the issue of having a teammate that’s leaps and bounds ahead of everybody, like how do you deal with that? Steph (Stephen Curry) since 2015 has made way more than 10% more three-pointers than anyone else in the league. So at some point, shouldn’t the rating be 10% higher than everybody else in the league? How do we deal with that? I think he’s just kinda broke that scale.”

Just a week ago, Thompson took to social media to express his disgust with his 3-point rating.

As NBA fans know, Thompson is one of the greatest 3-point shooters of all time. He’s made 41.7 percent of his shots from beyond the arc over his career. However, his shooting clip did take a step back last season.

He hit just 38.5 percent of his deep shots last season in 32 games. It was the first time in his career that he shot less than 40 percent from deep in a season.

Of course, a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that Thompson had not played in the previous two seasons due to suffering serious lower-body injuries. He missed the entire 2019-20 campaign with a knee injury and then ruptured his Achilles just before the start of the 2020-21 regular season.

Luckily, those injuries are now behind him, and he is likely still working on getting back to the form that he was at before those injuries impacted his career.

Surely, he’ll spend a lot of the 2022-23 season trying to convince Singh and his other doubters that he’s the best shooter in the NBA. If he can do that, there’s little doubt that his 3-point rating in the popular video game will go up.
