Stephen Curry hoping to retire with Warriors, eligible for a 3-year, $156M contract extension

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is eligible to sign a three-year, $156 million contract extension with the Warriors.

ESPN’s Nick Friedell explained that Curry is in discussions to potentially sign the extension which would likely make him a Warrior for the rest of his career.

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry says the possibility of signing an extension with the organization is ‘on the table’ and reiterated that he is hopeful he eventually will retire from the only professional team he has ever known,” Friedell wrote.

Curry revealed that discussions are ongoing and that he is committed to staying in Golden State.

“We have conversations,” Curry said Monday during a video conference with reporters. “Everything’s on the table right now. Everything I’ve talked about about being a Warrior and what the future holds. Obviously [I’m] fully committed on what that is. And understanding I’ve got to do what’s right for me and the team and having those conversations. I feel blessed to be in that position where I can say that and truly believe that, so it’s a matter of just letting things play out the way they should and that’s kind of where we’re at right now.”

Curry has won three titles and two MVP awards with the Warriors. He signed a five-year, $201 million supermax contract with Golden State back in 2017.

The six-time All-Star is arguably the greatest shooter of all time. After missing most of last season due to injury, Curry is looking to bring the Warriors back to the playoffs this season.

For his career, Curry averages 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game while shooting 43.5 percent from 3-point range.
