A winter storm wreaked havoc in southeast Texas on Tuesday, covering the Houston area in a blanket of snow. According to the National Weather Service, much of Houston saw anywhere from two to four inches of snow.
But there were exceptions. The city of Baytown, Texas reportedly had 5.5 inches of snowfall.
Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green along with former 16-year NBA veteran Rashard Lewis both took to Instagram to react to the shocking amount of snow that has fallen on the city of Houston.
The Rockets have a home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers slated for Wednesday, and there’s no indication at this time that the game will be delayed, despite all of the snow.
Green has served as the de facto scoring option this season for a Rockets team that has been one of the premier squads in the NBA. He’s averaging a team-high 21.5 points per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from deep.
He’s been particularly great at putting the ball through the bottom of the net lately, as he’s scored 20-plus points in nine of the 10 games he’s appeared in so far this month. The lone exception was when he totaled 19 points on 8-of-21 shooting from the floor in a loss to the Detroit Pistons recently on Jan. 20.
It’s no coincidence that the Rockets haven’t lost all that much of late with all that Green has contributed as a scorer. Houston has a record of 7-3 over its past 10 games and at 28-14 on the season sits as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
The Rockets might have the most difficult two-game stretch of their season to this point coming up in the rearview mirror. After taking on the Cavaliers at Toyota Center on Wednesday, Houston will play a Cleveland team on pace for 70 wins once again on Jan. 25.
Considering the Cavaliers hold the best record in the league, Rockets fans should be happy even if the team wins just one of its next two contests. But, two consecutive wins over Cleveland would help to cement the Rockets further as legitimate contenders out West.
