Houston Rockets guard John Wall is excited to be reunited with his former college teammate DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins, who signed a one-year deal with Houston this offseason, was teammates with Wall at the University of Kentucky during the 2009-10 season.
“One person with knowledge of Wall’s thinking strongly denied he ever asked out of Washington, but the guard, by all accounts, is relishing this unexpected reunion with Cousins,” Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer wrote. “If the big man can return to form, if Wall can stay healthy, perhaps the Rockets — still starring perennial MVP candidate James Harden, mind you — might have something to say in the Western Conference playoff picture.”
Both Wall and Cousins have suffered serious injuries over the past couple seasons.
Cousins fought his way back from an Achilles injury to play for the Golden State Warriors in the second half of the 2018-19 season.
After that season, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers but tore his ACL.
Wall, on the other hand, missed all of last season with an Achilles injury.
Finally healthy, the two former teammates hope that they can help Houston succeed in a tough Western Conference.
