In the coming weeks, a good number of NBA players, especially free agents, could be changing teams.
Reportedly, the Indiana Pacers had some discussions about acquiring New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball.
Ball, who was the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, will become a free agent just days from now. It appears that the Pelicans may not make any real effort to keep him in the fold.
Although he has his flaws, Ball has plenty of value as someone who can get his team into a running game, distribute the ball and defend well. He has also greatly improved his 3-point shooting over the last couple of years.
Last year, the Pacers did well, finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference. However, this season they seriously underperformed, failing to reach the playoffs.
While the team has some nice players, such as big man Domantas Sabonis, its roster has some significant holes.
There may be a somewhat robust market for Ball. Among other teams, the Los Angeles Lakers, his former team, are reportedly interested in his services.
