Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was heard getting on teammate Rui Hachimura for not delivering him the ball on a play in the fourth quarter of the team’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.
It’s important to note that James was hotter than fish grease in the final frame, as he scored 16 points in the quarter while knocking down all six of his shots from the field.
The Lakers won the game in question by four points, and the team seemingly needed every one of James’ 16 fourth-quarter points in order to come away with the win. After all, Los Angeles trailed by seven at the end of the third quarter before it outscored the Kings by 11 points across the final 12 minutes of action.
But James had more than just a great fourth quarter on Saturday, as he performed at a high level throughout the entire contest. He totaled a triple-double of 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. The NBA’s oldest player also converted 12 of his 22 shots from the field and buried four 3s.
James’ 40th birthday is just over two months away, yet he is still doing his thing in the NBA. So far in his 22nd season, he is averaging 23.0 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the field and 38.9 percent from 3-point range as well as 7.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.
In light of Saturday’s tight victory, the Lakers stand alone atop the Western Conference standings at the moment with a record of 3-0. They’re also one of only three teams in the league — along with the Cleveland Cavaliers and defending champion Boston Celtics — with such a record.
Los Angeles will seek its fourth consecutive win when it plays the Phoenix Suns for the second time already this season on Monday night. The Suns own a 2-1 record on the season, with their two wins coming against the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. The matchup will be another solid test for the Lakers.
