Savannah James says she was ready to fight man in bleachers who flipped off Bronny years ago

During a recent podcast episode, Savannah James recalled an incident in which a man gave her son Bronny the middle finger at one of his basketball games years back.

The elder James said that she confronted the man in the bleachers and was prepared to get into a physical altercation with him.

“Yeah, so, short story, when I had the baby (Zhuri James) on my hip, ’bout to go and try to fight a man, he was flicking Bronny off in a game,” she began. “And you know how you say you gotta be an adult and talk to the people head-on? I marched up them bleachers with Zhuri, little tiny Zhuri. What am I gonna do? I’m talkin’ to a man, like, ‘So, you flickin’ my son off? That’s what we doin’ at this game?’ ‘Oh no, I was doin’ that to my son. That’s what we do.’ Okay, so now you crazy. You just randomly flippin’ your son off while he playin’ the game? That’s odd, but yeah, alright.”

It makes sense that Savannah James was protective of her son in that instance. There’s a distinct possibility that he’s dealt with hecklers for a long time because of who his father is and all that he’s accomplished in the NBA.

Bronny James joined forces with his father LeBron on the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers after the franchise selected him with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and he’s played in six of Los Angeles’ 11 games so far.

He has scored four points during his limited opportunities in his maiden season in the league. His most recent appearance for the Lakers came when he logged under two minutes of action against the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 10.

Bronny James also made his debut with the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, when the team took on the Salt Lake City Stars on Nov. 9. The 20-year-old didn’t live up to the hype that was generated surrounding his debut, however, as he scored just six points on 2-of-9 shooting from the field while also totaling more turnovers than assists.

The South Bay Lakers’ next contest will be against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Friday, but Bronny James will not play in that bout. He will only play in the G League affiliate’s home games, and the team won’t play another home game until it takes on the Stockton Kings on Sunday.

Assuming that Bronny James will play in that one, here’s to hoping that he can put together a bounce-back performance after an underwhelming debut in the G League.
