Footage leaked by TMZ depicts Los Angeles Lakers big man Jaxson Hayes verbally abusing and putting his hands on his former girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, before he was arrested back in July of 2021 while a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The altercation was allegedly sparked after Jamora accused Hayes’ dogs of injuring her smaller dog. In the footage, Hayes can be seen pulling her from one room to another as she tells him to stop. Shortly after, loud crashes and banging noises can be heard as Jamora pleads with Hayes to stop and leave.

In the footage, Hayes and Jamora make their way outside shortly after 2 a.m., with the latter threatening to call the police before saying the following.

“I’m not gonna let you hit me anymore,” Jamora can be heard saying. “What the f— do I look like, a punching bag?”

Then, Hayes shoves Jamora as he walks back inside the house, spitting in her vicinity. Jamora reiterates that he needs to leave.

Based on photos taken after the incident, Jamora seemingly suffered bruises on her arms and legs.

As previously reported, police ended up showing up to the residence, and they proceeded to arrest and tase Hayes. Before he was arrested, Hayes allegedly shoved an officer. One officer allegedly ended up injured.

At one point, Hayes said he couldn’t breathe, and that led to an excessive use of force investigation regarding the Los Angeles Police Department.

Hayes was sentenced to three years probation, domestic violence classes and 450 hours of community service after he pled no contest to resisting arrest and false imprisonment. At one point, he was facing 12 charges.

The 24-year-old is in his sixth season in the NBA, and he spent the first four seasons of his career playing for the Pelicans. With New Orleans, he established himself as a solid backup big man.

He is currently in his second season playing for the Lakers. He has appeared in every one of Los Angeles’ six games thus far in the 2024-25 regular season, and he’s averaging 5.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.

Hayes wasn’t punished by the NBA following the incident in question, but the leaked footage clearly paints a very disturbing picture. Jamora has an ongoing lawsuit against Hayes.
