Doc Rivers offers biting response to Paul George’s criticism of his coaching

Earlier this week, Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George released some highly critical comments regarding his former coach Doc Rivers.

Rivers, who is now the head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers, has now responded. While he kept it civil, he made it clear that he does not see things in the same way that his former player does.

“Hey listen, I enjoyed coaching him,” Rivers told reporters. “So not a lot to say there. Ty Lue was sitting right next to me. So he better hope it’s not adjustments. It ain’t going to be much different. Listen, we lost the game and I think everybody needs to take ownership. Obviously, we can always do better. Players can play better. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll leave it there.”

Clearly, Rivers was happy to speak his peace. He also clearly made sure to choose his words carefully.

Heading into the 2020-21 season, Rivers and George both have a lot to prove.

George will have to prove that he can indeed be a star leader on a Clippers team that collapsed in the playoffs last season.

As for Rivers, he’s now responsible for coaching one of the most talented young duos in the NBA in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
