The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly took calls regarding point guard Lonzo Ball last year.
Now, it appears the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks are among the teams that have recently inquired about the youngster.
Ball, 23, is averaging 11.9 points, 4.4 assists, 4.0 boards and 1.3 steals per game this season.
Although Ball is having a modest campaign, he is averaging a stark career low in assists. That is worrisome considering Ball is known for his wizardry with distributing the basketball.
Nonetheless, contenders are interested in adding a player with Ball’s basketball intelligence and production.
The Clippers are the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. However, they have no true point guard that can organize and facilitate the offense.
The Knicks have been surprisingly competitive in the Eastern Conference thanks to the ascension of Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett. They’re currently No. 6 in the conference.
As for the Mavericks, they are currently out of the playoff standings in the West with a 6-7 record. The Mavs have postseason hopes this season after snatching two games from the Clippers with a depleted roster in the first round of the 2020 playoffs.
The Pelicans are the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference.
