A miniseries that will tell the story of former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s fall from grace is apparently in the works.
FX is the network behind the series, which will be titled “The Sterling Affairs,” and the production is already putting together a star-studded cast.
Notably, Laurence Fishburne has been cast as former Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.
“Oscar-nominated actors Jacki Weaver and Laurence Fishburne have been tapped as two of the leads in the project, Donald Sterling’s wife, Shelly Sterling, and former Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers, respectively,” Nellie Andreeva of Deadline reported.
The series will have a total of six episodes, and it will be based on ESPN’s podcast that has the same name.
Many NBA fans likely already know what the series will cover. Essentially, it will tell the behind-the-scenes story of Sterling’s incredible fall after his racist behavior was brought to light thanks to leaked audio recordings.
This will certainly be a series that a lot of NBA fans will tune into.
These days, the Clippers have moved far beyond that tumultuous time. Right now, the Clippers are the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference and are on pace to make it to the play-in tournament. They are 39-40 on the season.
More importantly, the team recently got superstar forward Paul George back from injury. He’s quickly returned to form and is averaging 23.7 points, 6.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds over the last three games that he has played in.
His return gives the Clippers a shot at having some success in the playoffs. Though no one really sees them as serious title contenders, anything can happen in the postseason.
