The Los Angeles Clippers have had an interesting offseason.
They brought back forward Marcus Morris on a four-year, $64 million deal, and they also reportedly added big man Serge Ibaka to the fold.
However, the Clippers reportedly lost reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell to its crosstown rival Los Angeles Lakers.
According to the Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike, people around the NBA believe that the Clippers have “something special up their sleeves” as the NBA’s offseason and free agency period continues.
“It’s left people to guess,” Woike wrote. “The Clippers need a point guard, defensive help in the frontcourt, and more leadership. So far, they’ve added shooting and underrated playmaking in Luke Kennard and brought back Marcus Morris, but there are still a lot of boxes left unchecked.
“If you ask around the NBA, people expect the Clippers to have something special up their sleeves.”
Apparently, one Eastern Conference executive thinks that it is very plausible that they do.
“They’ve got to, right?” one Eastern Conference executive said.
The Clippers addressed their frontcourt need with Ibaka, but it remains to be seen if they will add a point guard.
