Dwyane Wade implies Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo were too confident vs. Cavs: ‘Y’all got smoked’

Miami Heat stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro made some comments suggesting that they had faith in their squad as the Heat faced off against the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

Adebayo apparently told franchise legend Dwyane Wade that the Heat wanted “smoke” with Cleveland. Additionally, Herro claimed after the Heat lost Game 3 of the series that Miami wasn’t going to get swept.

However, Miami lost Game 4 by more than 50 points, meaning the series did indeed end in a sweep. Wade recently implied that Herro and Adebayo were too confident against a Cavaliers team that has been dominant this season.

“When I heard Tyler Herro say, ‘We will not get swept,’ I was like, ‘Y’all already swept,'” Wade said. “… Listen, I gotta talk to my brother Bam, my little brother, because we sat right in here when U.D. (Udonis Haslem) was here. We on the FaceTime with Bam right here, and Bam say he want that smoke. And I said right back on that FaceTime, I was like, ‘You don’t want that Cleveland smoke, dawg.’ ‘Nah, we want that smoke.’ Well y’all got smoked.”

The series between the Heat and Cavaliers was historically one-sided. Cleveland won the four games in the series by a combined 122 points. The previous record was 121 points.

What’s interesting about how the series played out is that the Heat gave the Cavaliers much more of a run for their money at Rocket Arena than they did at Kaseya Center.

The Heat trailed by only eight points through three quarters of Game 1 before the wheels fell off for them in the final frame, and then Game 2 was the closest game of the series. The Cavaliers won by just nine points and were outscored by four in the fourth quarter.

As for Games 3 and 4, they were over well before the final buzzer sounded. The Heat lost each contest by more than 30 points and didn’t play well on either end of the floor.

Offensively, Miami mustered fewer than 90 points in both games at Kaseya Center. On the defensive end, the Heat allowed the Cavaliers to score 120-plus points in Games 3 and 4, with Cleveland scoring 138 in the closeout Game 4.

Miami’s embarrassing series loss to the Cavaliers marks just the third time in franchise history that the Heat have been swept in a best-of-seven series and the first time since the Milwaukee Bucks swept them in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

The Cavaliers are now preparing for the second round after making quick work of the Heat and will take on the Indiana Pacers in their next playoff matchup. The Pacers sent the Bucks home in five games in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
