Report: Milwaukee Bucks offering Grayson Allen for Cam Reddish

The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly have been offering guard Grayson Allen to multiple teams, including the New York Knicks.

According to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, Milwaukee has offered Allen in exchange for wing Cam Reddish, who is also on the trading block.

“The Milwaukee Bucks have been offering wing Grayson Allen to multiple teams, per sources, for various players on the block, including Reddish,” Pincus wrote.

Allen is in the first year of a two-year deal that pays his $8.5 million per season with Milwaukee. The Bucks may be looking to move the former Duke University product to get his salary off the books for next season.

Reddish, who has fallen out of New York’s rotation this season, is in the final season of his rookie deal.

Another Duke product, Reddish was dealt to the Knicks last season in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, but he’s never found his footing in Tom Thibodeau’s lineup.

Reddish appeared in just 15 games for the Knicks in the 2021-22 season, although he opened the 2022-23 season in the rotation for New York.

Quentin Grimes’ return from a foot injury ate into Reddish’s minutes in New York, and he’s now been removed from the rotation altogether, last playing in a game for the Knicks on Dec. 3 of this season.

Milwaukee may value Reddish’s size on the wing, and he is a solid defender that can also stretch the floor. He isn’t as good of a shooter as Allen, who is shooting 39.7 percent from beyond the arc this season, but he can still space the floor.

This season, Reddish is averaging 8.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from 3-point range.

The Knicks’ bench has relied heavily on Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin (when healthy) this season. Adding a shooter like Allen could help give the team some more scoring options, but it’s unclear if the Knicks view him as a rotation piece going forward.

Thibodeau has made some major changes to New York’s lineup this season, removing Reddish, Derrick Rose and Evan Fournier from getting consistent minutes and trusting young players like Jericho Sims, Miles McBride and Grimes.

It has worked so far, as the Knicks are the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Unless New York plans on playing Allen, the Bucks may have to incentivize the Knicks to take on his contract since Reddish is on an expiring deal.

Milwaukee seems intent on improving its roster this season as it looks to make another push for an NBA title behind superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
