Anthony Edwards says he needs to take advantage of playoff stage because he gets ‘no national TV games’ in regular season

One of the biggest young names in the NBA is Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Edwards entered the league as the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. Since then, he has not only stunned fans with his talent on the basketball court, but he has also been revealed as one of the most likable and comical entertainers in the league.

Unfortunately for a lot of NBA fans, they haven’t gotten a chance to watch much of Edwards. The Wolves have been given very few national TV games in recent years.

This season, the Wolves got out of the play-in tournament and now have a 1-0 lead in their series against the Memphis Grizzlies. Edwards plans to take full advantage of the attention he and his team are getting at the moment.

“I think it’s very important to play at my best because they hide me during the regular season as far as no national TV games,” Edwards told Yahoo Sports. “So, people don’t really get to see me play unless I have an enormous game where I score 40-something or hit a game-winning shot or I get a huge dunk. I feel like games like this, I have to take advantage of because it’s the only time I get to be on TV so I’m trying to showcase my talent and everything I can do.

“I want the world to know I’m a great person. I’m always smiling, trying to light up the room and I want to see everybody be successful.”

In the past, it was often believed that rising stars like Edwards needed to move to bigger markets to become true superstars. LeBron James’ success on the Cleveland Cavaliers for many years helped changed that narrative.

Now, Edwards is far from the only young star playing in a non-major market. In fact, Ja Morant of the Grizzlies is another young face of the league who is happily playing in a non-major market.

If Edwards and the Wolves continue to succeed, they’re certainly going to get noticed more. If the Wolves were to get an upset series win over the Grizzlies or even push the series to seven games, Edwards and his teammates would surely start to get more respect as it pertains to potential national TV games moving forward.
