Former NBA star and current NBA analyst for TNT Chris Webber could be off the network’s broadcasts following this season.
According to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, TNT could be revamping its entire crew if legendary broadcaster Marv Albert decides to retire.
“While Marv Albert’s legendary career may conclude after he does the Eastern Conference Finals, sources said that Chris Webber’s return for next year is also very much in question,” Marchand wrote.
“No retirement decision has yet been made by Albert, arguably the greatest NBA play-by-player of all time, on whether he will try to continue his career after this season.”
Marchand also added that the “feeling” that Webber could be out of the building following this season has “been building for a while.”
“In March, Webber did not help himself — if he wishes to continue to call games — by informing Turner officials very late that he would not do the NCAA Tournament that took place in a ‘bubble’ format in Indianapolis,” Marchand added.
“Though TNT has been very understanding about COVID concerns throughout the pandemic, the fact that Webber waited until the last moment before bailing was looked upon as poor form.”
Webber was a five-time All-Star during his playing career and has spent a few seasons broadcasting for TNT.
With his future up in the air, it will be interesting to see where Webber lands as an analyst following this season.
