Only four teams are remaining in the NBA Cup bracket. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets are the two Western Conference squads still kicking, and they’ll face off on Dec. 14 for the right to play in the championship.
Conversely, the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks are the Eastern Conference teams that will do battle on Saturday. The title game will then take place on Dec. 17.
Now that the Hawks, Bucks, Thunder and Rockets are locked in as the four teams who will play at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, prices for tickets to attend the aforementioned games have taken a major dip.
None of those four teams play in particularly large markets like Los Angeles, New York, Boston or Miami. Plus, neither of the two teams from the Eastern Conference which are still alive have played consistent basketball this season.
Atlanta has won seven of its past 10 games but was in a rut to begin the campaign. The Hawks owned a record of 4-7 and suffered a four-game losing streak at one point.
The Bucks looked even worse at the start of the season. Milwaukee lost all but two of its first 10 games, and folks were beginning to question the effectiveness of the pairing of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
However, Milwaukee has rebounded well from its sluggish start, as the team was on a seven-game winning streak not long ago and is now above the .500 mark and in the Eastern Conference playoff picture at 13-11.
The matchup between the Rockets and Thunder projects to be more thrilling and will feature two teams that look to be legitimate contenders in the Western Conference.
Behind a stingy defense, the Rockets are in a tie for the second-best record in the conference right now at 17-8. Ironically, the Thunder are the only team ahead of Houston in the West, and Oklahoma City with a record of 19-5.
It’s understandable as to why it doesn’t cost much for a ticket to the Bucks-Hawks showdown, but folks should be excited to witness two of the top teams in the Western Conference face off in Las Vegas.
