With the 2020 NBA Playoffs underway, the teams that missed the postseason are now plotting their potential offseason moves.
For the New Orleans Pelicans, it appears these moves could include trading away Lonzo Ball.
Ball was acquired last summer in a blockbuster trade that saw Anthony Davis relocate to the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal also netted the Pelicans Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and De’Andre Hunter, the fourth overall pick in last year’s NBA draft.
When he was selected second overall in the 2017 draft, Ball was surrounded by massive hype, as plenty of observers expected him to become a Hall of Fame caliber player.
But his first three seasons have been marred by several injuries and poor, inconsistent perimeter shooting.
He did, however, manage to show some improvement this season for the young Pelicans, improving his 3-point shooting percentage to 37.5 percent.
Ball’s ability to push the ball upcourt and speed up the pace of the game, as well as defend at a high level, could make him an attractive piece to another team.
