Former NBA head coach Tom Thibodeau is back in the league.
The New York Knicks are reportedly finalizing a multiyear deal so that Thibodeau can become the new head coach of the franchise.
Thibodeau, 62, has decades of NBA coaching experience.
He served as an assistant coach on several teams and was an associate head coach on the Boston Celtics’ 2008 championship team.
However, he became famous in his first head coaching stint with the Chicago Bulls. He led the Bulls to the best record in the league during the 2010-11 season. Under Thibodeau’s tutelage, Derrick Rose was named the MVP in 2011.
Thibodeau last served as a head coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2018-19 season.
Now, he has a near insurmountable job ahead of him. The Knicks have been the laughing stock of the NBA for the last few years as they’ve continuously missed the playoffs and on big players in free agency.
As a head coach, Thibodeau has a 352-246 career record.
