According to a report, the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to trade veteran sharpshooting guard J.J. Redick.
In addition to the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks are a team that Redick would be willing to be dealt to.
“The New Orleans Pelicans guard’s family lives in Brooklyn and, at 36, he is yearning to be closer to it,” wrote Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Redick wants to return to the 76ers or play for the Nets, New York Knicks, or the Boston Celtics, according to a league source. The Athletic is reporting that the Sixers, Nets, and Celtics have expressed interest in acquiring the sharpshooter.”
Redick, 36, has always been one of the league’s best 3-point shooters. However, so far this season, he’s struggling from downtown, as he has made only 29.8 percent of his 3-ball attempts.
The Knicks were playing surprisingly well earlier his season under new head coach Tom Thibodeau, but have struggled more recently.
New York is one of the league’s worst offensive teams and adding Redick would greatly help in that category.
Still, the Knicks are playing better than most anticipated, and it’s mostly due to the improvement of forward Julius Randle.
