Police are investigating allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl. But the police investigation has reportedly hit a major snag.

“The inquiry into whether Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey had an inappropriate relationship with a minor has hit a roadblock — TMZ Sports has learned the alleged teen and her family are refusing to cooperate with officials,” TMZ reported.

“Law enforcement sources tell us police would obviously like to speak with the purported female and those close to her to gather more information regarding the social media claims that made rounds over the weekend…but as of right now, no one is talking.”

Giddey had a forgettable game in the Thunder’s In-Season Tournament loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. He finished with 10 points, six rebounds and one assist while shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 0-for-1 from behind the 3-point line across 28 minutes of playing time.

The youngster had a quiet game, and Timberwolves fans loudly booed him several times when he had the ball in his hands.

The loss dropped the Thunder to 11-6 on the season. They are in a three-way tie with the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns — who have won seven games in a row — for the third-best record in the Western Conference.

While the Thunder have had an impressive start to the 2023-24 regular season overall, they are in a bit of a slump at the moment. The team has lost its last two games, as before the Thunder were defeated by the Timberwolves on Tuesday, they lost to Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers by a final score of 127-123.

Granted, the 76ers and Timberwolves are both very good teams, so the fact that the Thunders are losers of their last two games isn’t overly concerning. The 76ers own a 12-5 record, while the Timberwolves are 13-4, which is the best record in the Western Conference and second-best record in the entire league, behind only the 14-4 Boston Celtics.

Giddey has yet to receive any form of punishment from the NBA or authorities for the disturbing allegations, and in light of the news that the girl and her family are not cooperating with police, it doesn’t seem like he will be punished anytime soon.

The Thunder will hope to snap their losing streak when they take on LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Thursday. After playing the Lakers, Oklahoma City will then face off against the Mavericks on Dec. 2.
